Australia is preparing for a Federal Election next weekend.

A Federal or a State Election happen regularly in Australia. We hold one every 3 years or sooner is likely. Politicians collect huge sums of money from Elections. Is there any wonder we have so many? Voting is compulsory and fines apply if we fail to vote.
In N.S.W. and in some other States we vote in the Senate as well.  Senate can have as many as 60 or 70 people standing and each candidate needs to be numbered in order of preference. If voting below the line is preferred and any mistake in numbering is made the whole voting form will be declared an invalid vote.

It’s an ironic situation

confused voterThe ironic thing is that in State and in Federal Election elections in Australia, very little if any information is available to the voter. We don’t know who the candidates are that’s standing that we have to vote for on election day. We head down to polling just wanting to get it over with and possibly with a candidate in mind.
Outside polling booth workers rush to us with many How-To-Vote forms. Each wants their form on top believing they have a better chance of receiving the vote. Not much science in it. The voter walks in clutching many How-To-Vote forms and not knowing anyone on them.
We are expected to vote and to allocate preferences to people not known to us. Sometimes the voter reaches a point where he decides not to vote for the major parties and goes for an independent. If he knows how the vote is counted he’ll soon realize his vote in 3 moves will go to either Lib or Lab. The voter does not have a choice where the vote goes.

On election day we are faced with the situation of not knowing:

  • Who the candidates are that’s standing.
  • How many independents are standing and for what policies.
  • Where are the preferences going.
  • What are the policies up for consideration.
  • Is there any policies to consider.
  • Who’s standing against the sitting member in their electorate.
  • Who are the Senate candidates standing.

399139-tony-abbott-and-julia-gillardThe voter does however know one thing that’s certain. That is that one of the two major parties will win the election. Lib or Lab will receive the vote even against our wishes. In Australian politics this happens because the two major parties have the Preferential Voting System structured to favour themselves. they always win the election. The two major parties also go into collusion to keep smaller parties and independents out.

When Pauline Hanson’s One Nation (PHON) came along in 1997 to 2001. The two  parties went into collusion and kept PHON out of politics. Even though PHON had the majority of votes and voters wanted her in. Now LibLab  (have proven to be one party by going into collusion) does not have to worry about winning the voter over. No need to make policies or promises that they break, anymore.

LibLab stay in leadership by giving preferences to each other. they’re no longer pressured to keep the voter happy. Once-upon-a-time politicians needed policies to attract the vote.  Not any more. They now do away with policy making that once benefited the community. The community as a whole now suffers. Results are that there’s a constant erosion of infrastructure. Public hospitals are one obvious example.

My voting proposal is one that allows voters to unite and take back control of the vote.

The voter has power when united and using my voting strategy. We vote as a block . We need to pick off Lib and Lab, one at a time. My voting strategy can also cause favorable policies to be reintroduced. Policies that favour the community and not big business.

My Proposal is that the voter tackles each election as if in a WAR situation. A sutuation that one would face on the battle field. Federal and State elections by all accounts are WAR situations! That’s not war between Lib and Lab as they would have us believe, or as the super gullible may believe. It’s a situation of them against us. The voter against the Politician.

Lifestyle choice the key in WA's vote on daylight saving We will agree that in a war situation, the army, to win would need to attack and defeat one enemy camp at a time. It would be suicide to attack both enemy camps at once and without a plan of attack.

We the voter in a similar situation must pick each political party camp off one by one.  In war tactic the army takes out the strongest enemy camp first. There’s no other way. A general wouldn’t weaken his army by first attacking smaller groups. Not before the main and strongest enemy is defeated?

The strongest political party in Australia is the Labor Party and they are in power in State and Federal Politics for the last term.

My Proposal is that the voter votes in the next few elections,  Federal and State for the Liberal Party. (yuck!) It’s dirty work but must be done to win back power to the voter.

We must keep voting for the Liberal Party in each election until Labor is gone and begging for votes. This strategy if followed can have long term benefit for the community.

Getting the message of My Voting Proposal across to every voter will be the hardest challenge.

The two major party’s have such a stronghold on the mainstream media and on the voting system in Australia.  All going well I may hear someone say at this point, “What about the Greens, why not vote for The Greens?” For My Proposal to work the vote can not go to the Greens. Reason is that The Greens preferences ALWAYS and that is ALWAYS goes to the Labor Party.

That’s always and no matter what the policies. After Labor is gone the Libs are next in line for elimination being the 2nd biggest party to contend with. Then who knows we may vote for the Greens or the Sex Party or The Pirate Party. I may hear someone saying at this point, “Won’t that make an equally strong party out of the Greens to contend with?”

It may for a while but the difference is that the voter will be in control of the voting system.

Also if My Proposal is implemented the Preferential Voting System could possibly be used as originally intended. Without corruption preferences are good tools for voters to use.

If and when My Voting Proposal takes effect the smaller parties and the independents will see their chances also. As a result politicians will start making proper preference deals with each other. Best of all My Proposal will also bring back favourable policies that WIN over the voter to receive their vote

Take power back as a voter, by following My Voting Proposal!

Thank You.

Jill Brown.
